Hip Hop Level 1 & 2

No previous experience needed. In this 45 minute class, students are being introduced to the basics of hip-hop, to hip-hop hits! Students must be able to follow simple/ complex choreography, and be willing to express themselves through freestyling. Skills include: dancing on beat, musicality, freestyle dancing, learning choreography quickly, break dancing, leaps and turns, and more.

Hip Hop Level 3

At least 1 year of Hip-Hop experience required. Students are usually 10 and up, or invited by the instructor to join this upper level class. In this 45 minute class, students are challenged to learn all styles of hip-hop. Students must be able to learn complex choreography to fast tempo music, and be willing to express themselves in each style. Skills include: dancing on beat, musicality, freestyle dancing, learning choreography quickly, popping and locking, leaps and double turns, light tumbling/tricks, krumping, and isolations.

Modern/Improvisation

Promotes creative movement on the spot. Dancers will explore elements of time, energy, space, breath, body, and emotional connection. These concepts aid in performance quality and emotional color while dancing. This class is offered to dancers ages 10+.

Tap Level 2

This class is for those who have been taking Tap for at least 3 years and have the knowledge of basic music counting and Beginner/Intermediate Tap steps. In this class students will continue to learn new steps that challenge their balance, coordination, and memorization skills. Percussion instruments (like Tap shoes!) help children develop coordination and gross motor skills; the combination of movement, sound and music is great for high-energy kids. Students can begin learning how to count music and stay on beat either with music or dance acapella as a team. Students can expect to have some form of simple Homework a few times a month. Practicing their skills is highly recommended!

Jazz Level 2

Prerequisite of jazz 1 (or any jazz technique class). Students will continue developing their jazz technique skills while learning more advanced techniques. Students will be learning progressions and combinations across the floor. At the teacher’s discretion, students may be moved levels to ensure proper technique is being taught for the dancers ability and to maintain safety for the dancer. Students will participate in a 1 hour class.

Jazz Level 3 & 4

Prerequisite of jazz 2 (or any jazz technique class). Students will continue working towards their advanced technique. Students will continue learning progressions and combinations across the floor. At the teacher’s discretion, students may be moved levels to ensure proper technique is being taught for the dancers ability and to maintain safety for the dancer. Students will participate in a 1 hour class.

Leaps N Turns Level 2-6

This class promotes how to execute movement correctly for jazz & lyrical dance styles. During this class, dancers will have the time to learn proper technique, advance in their technical skills, and learn strength & conditioning exercises that can be practiced at home. Class level ranges between 1-5. We highly recommend a jazz class along with this class.

Int-Advance Acro/Tumble

Ages 7 and up. Pre- requisites for this class are 1 arm cartwheel, backbend kicker/back walkover, front limber/front walkover, chest stand for min 5 count, forearm stand, headstand hold with 1 leg variation. This class will be working on side aerials, donut rolls, shoulder stands, chest stands variations, scorpion to needle, back handspring step out, and much more.

Elite Acro/Tumble

This class is by evaluation only. In this class we focus on building the foundation of skills learned and progress to the next steps. Learned skills in this class are spiders, front aerials, back aerials, illusion skills and so much more. Please email hayli@cypresseiltedance.com for an evaluation time

Aerial 1 & 2

This class goal is to accomplish side aerials, standing aerials, front aerials, and back aerials. Level 1 is for those who are working to do aerials alone but still need a little help. Level 2 is for those who can do side aerials alone and understand the concept of front aerial. Prerequisite for Aerial level 2 is a standing back handspring and a side aerial alone a dive front walk-over.

Ballet Level 2-6

These classes focus on ballet technique, vocabulary and the core foundations of ballet. These classes range from 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30-minute classes. In order for a student to qualify for pre-pointe or pointe they must be enrolled in a ballet class. Ballet is offered twice a week and highly recommended to take both.
