LEVELED CLASSES AGES 7 AND UP

Hip-Hop 1

No previous experience needed. In this 45 minute class, students are being introduced to the basics of hip-hop, to the latest kid’s music. Students will work on following along to simple choreography, and begin expressing themselves through freestyling. Skills include: dancing to the beat, clapping, snapping, freestyle dancing, pivots, learning choreography, break dancing, cartwheels, and more.Kirat Leveled Up Class

Hip-Hop 2

No previous experience needed. In this 45 minute class, students are being introduced to the basics of hip-hop, to hip-hop hits! Students must be able to follow simple/ complex choreography, and be willing to express themselves through freestyling. Skills include: dancing on beat, musicality, freestyle dancing, learning choreography quickly, break dancing, leaps and turns, and more.

HipHop 3

At least 1 year of Hip-Hop experience required. Students are usually 10 and up, or invited by the instructor to join this upper level class. In this 45 minute class, students are challenged to learn all styles of hip-hop. Students must be able to learn complex choreography to fast tempo music, and be willing to express themselves in each style. Skills include: dancing on beat, musicality, freestyle dancing, learning choreography quickly, popping and locking, leaps and double turns, light tumbling/tricks, krumping, and isolations.

Jazz

Ages 7 and up.

  • Jazz 1: No previous experience needed. Students will begin learning the fundamentals of jazz technique. This will include skills such as battements, pirouettes, and various leaps and turns, set to high energy music to encourage the dancers. Students will participate in a 1 hour class.
  • Jazz 2: Prerequisite of jazz 1 (or any jazz technique class). Students will continue developing their jazz technique skills while learning more advanced techniques. Students will be learning progressions and combinations across the floor. At the teacher’s discretion, students may be moved levels to ensure proper technique is being taught for the dancers ability and to maintain safety for the dancer. Students will participate in a 1 hour class.
  • Jazz 3: Prerequisite of jazz 2 (or any jazz technique class). Students will continue working towards their advanced technique. Students will continue learning progressions and combinations across the floor. At the teacher’s discretion, students may be moved levels to ensure proper technique is being taught for the dancers ability and to maintain safety for the dancer. Modern/Improv

Promotes creative movement on the spot. Dancers will explore elements of time, energy, space, breath, body, and emotional connection. These concepts aid in performance quality and emotional color while dancing. This class is offered to dancers ages 10+.

Leaps & Turns

promotes how to execute movement correctly for jazz & lyrical dance styles. During this class, dancers will have the time to learn proper technique, advance in their technical skills, and learn strength & conditioning exercises that can be practiced at home. Class level ranges between 1-5.

Drill Team Prep

Is the beginning steps in working towards the skills needed to try out for high school drill teams. This class should be accompanied with a single subject class such as leaps and turns, jazz or ballet to further your development.

Tap 1

This class is for those that have had a few years of Basic or Beginner Tap Classes. This 1 hour class will focus on Percussion instruments (like Tap shoes!) help children develop coordination and gross motor skills; the combination of movement, sound and music is great for high-energy kids. Students can begin learning how to count music and stay on beat either with music or dance acapella as a team. Students can expect to have some form of simple Homework a few times a month. Practicing their skills is highly recommended!

Tap 2

This class is for those who have been taking Tap for at least 3 years and have the knowledge of basic music counting and Beginner/Intermediate Tap steps. In this class students will continue to learn new steps that challenge their balance, coordination, and memorization skills. Percussion instruments (like Tap shoes!) help children develop coordination and gross motor skills; the combination of movement, sound and music is great for high-energy kids. Students can begin learning how to count music and stay on beat either with music or dance acapella as a team. Students can expect to have some form of simple Homework a few times a month. Practicing their skills is highly recommended!

Open Tap

This class is designed for all Tap LEVELS in mind. The 1 hour class will be different week to week. Students and Adults are welcome. Expect to learn listening skills to understand rhythm patterns. This class will be sure to cover all bases of Tap from Beginner to Advanced. In addition students will get the opportunity to express their skills through learning Improvisation.

Beginner Tap

For students from ages 9 and up who have not had a previous Tap experience. Music theory taught in Tap class, students who study other musical instruments get to kinesthetically reinforce those skills in the dance studio! For those who do not play instruments will learn through using their percussion instrument. (Tap Shoes)
